I grew up surfing every break from Parsons to Goolwa. Every season of the year, rain, hail or shine, I’d take my surfboard to school and catch the bus from school to Middleton Point. Most nights, a bunch of other mad keen girl surfers and I would share waves and giggle till sunset.

 

The waves and the community on this stretch of coastline nurtured my development from a young surfer to a professional surfer and for that, I am forever grateful. Like many people that live on the Fleurieu Peninsula, I have a strong connection to our coastline, and I care deeply about preserving the landscape and our precious marine life.

 

By nominating our coastline to become a National Surfing Reserve our community has demonstrated their commitment to ensuring our coast will be preserved, protected and respected. The incredible people that nominated our treasured coastline to become the Encounter Coast Surfing Reserve have ensured our marine life will flourish and future generations of young surfers will enjoy it just as I did.
